What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced RAY-key) means "universal life force energy" in Japanese. It is a simple, non-invasive, natural healing method which allows one to absorb more life force energy. The energy is transferred through the hands of the giver and into the body of the receiver. Actual physical touch, while commonly used, is not required for Reiki to work, and the receiver is always fully clothed.
Reiki affects each person or animal differently, but it always acts where ever the receiver needs it most. It induces deep relaxation which enhances the body's natural ability to heal itself. Reiki is ideal for use with animals.
In its long history of use, Reiki has aided in healing virtually every known illness and injury, from heart disease and cancer to cuts, bruises, broken bones, headaches, colds, fatigue and insomnia.
Thanks to research in the field of bioenergetics, Reiki is gaining acceptance at hospitals, clinics and animal shelters across the country. It has been shown to accelerate recovery from surgery, reduce negative effects of medication, improve mental attitude, and help patients heal faster and with less pain.

General Information about Treating Animals
with Reiki:
Reiki is ideal for use with animals because it is gentle and noninvasive. It doesn't cause stress, discomfort, or pain, and yet yields powerful results. Animals respond intuitively to Reiki's power to heal emotional, behavioral, and physical illnesses and injuries.
For animals who are healthy, Reiki helps to maintain their health, enhances relaxation and provides an emotional sense of peace and contentment.
For animals who are ill, Reiki is a wonderful healing method as well as a safe compliment to Western Medicine, Chinese Medicine, homeopathy, flower essences, and all other forms of healing. For example, Reiki can reduce the side effects of chemotherapy, support an acupuncture treatment, and enhance the effects of flower essences.
For dying animals, Reiki is a powerful yet gentle way to provide comfort, relief from pain, fear, and anxiety, and to ease the transition to death.
